Baby It's Cold Outside!

Day two of the Polar Blast. 8 degrees makes life hard on a southern girl! School was still out for the kids, but teachers reported in at 9. I do believe this is the first time I ever worked wearing my cuddly duds beneath my jeans and heavy fleece shirt.

I've enjoyed these winter days at home. I caught up on some reading (and blogging) and learned to crochet! You're never to old to learn new things. The opposite of growth is decay!

Stay warm and keep your fur babies warm as well. Last night we banished Phoebe the kitty to my daughter's room so that our cat- detesting dogs could sleep in. Kitty is still miffed at me about this.

Stay warm and enjoy use this extra time inside to catch up on the things you love, be creative, and even learn something new.

All these were taken on Sanibel Island, Florida- may favorite place on earth. Here on the mountain we have freezing rain and record low temps. I sure could use some Sanibel right now....

Rosie & Woolbur

I am linking this post to both Camera Critters and Saturday's Critters.

Meet Rosie and Wollbur, two of the members of the menagerie that make up our family here on Devil's Hollow. Rosie is my daughter's pony. Woolbur is a hair sheep (no wool- he has hair like a goat). We named him Woolbur anyway. This photo was taken on the day they met- when Woolbur "moved in".

Notice how much Woolbur has grown in this one. He thinks Rosie is his mommy. She thinks he is her baby.

ROsie is sharing her food with Bob, the Rooster. The hen is looking on. Bob is the only chicken she has ever allowed to share. I think he is the only one brave enough to give it a try.

Orange You Glad It's Friday?!

Giant lighted crappie taken near Weiss Lake, Alabama (the crappie capital of the world).

I took this photo at what is commonly known as "The Leesburg Lights". Each year, in December, this gentleman adds many lighted creatures (which move!!) to his yard. Droves of people from all over the south come to walk through his yard and marvel at his creations. This is absolutely FREE and is a yearly tradition with many families.

By the way- that fishie isn't breathing fire- he's eating an orange frog!

Orange You Glad It's Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Life's Sweets And Spices.

Friday's Skywatch

Friday Skywatch is hosted by http://skyley.blogspot.com/. What are your skies looking like today?

All you have to do is walk out the front door and hear that wind roaring up the hollow to know that winter is officially here. As a matter of fact, while writing this, the power went out momentarily, due to the strong winds.

I'm not a winter fan- unless it snows. So bring on the snow!
